What’s a Producer/Director?

The Producer/Director of Athenia’s Last Voyage, Meghan Courtney, has worked just about every job there is to do on our film. If our film was a pyramid, Meghan would be at its apex. She is responsible for telling Athenia’s story in the most artistic, compelling, and truthful terms. Part of this responsibility involves hiring the people who actually make the film: cinematographer, visual effects editor, composer/sound designer, and film editor. Meghan must know enough about each function to guide and inspire its artisans’ best efforts.

At various times in our film’s production, she has worked a camera, a soundboard, set up lighting, conducted interviews, and helped to edit the trailer for our film. If this wasn’t enough to do, she also coordinated the day-to-day presentation of our successful, month-long crowdfunding campaign. So if you are still wondering what a producer/director does, it’s pretty much everything the audience sees and hears on the screen.
